On the 'Jump' to see the interview
FO: I try to work Yiddish in as much as possible, but no, I doubt too many people grock mishegas or other Yid-isms. That's OK. One of the great things about writing for FO is the freedom to write in your own style, and, mostly, say what you want (we try to stay away from political or religious stuff, even in jest). I also make obscure references in this year's book to Heartbreak Ridge, An Officer and a Gentleman, and various historical happenings. No doubt, many folks will not get them, at least at first. If it causes people to look things up, great--if they just shrug and move on, that's fine too.
I lived in DC for a while, and whenever visiting friends in B-more, I made sure to stop in at Attman's for some corned beef. I'm a New York City boy originally, so I have a high standard, and Attman's cleared the bar with plenty of room to spare. I live in Atlanta now, so if you want to arrange a corned beef-for-BBQ swap, I'm in.
Everyone says that adding Anquan Boldin jerseys to this offense will take it over the top, but I am concerned that most people don't seem to understand that Boldin was on the receiving end of Kurt Warner and the Cards' pass-first offense and now he will be receiving bullets from Joe Flacco in the team's run-first offense. Wouldn't you expect a drop-off in "Q's" production regardless of his improvement for the Ravens' offense?
FO: Regarding Boldin, you'll note in the chapter that I write something to the effect of "Only in Baltimore would a limited, injury-prone, aging wideout be welcomed as a savior." That's because of what is around him, receiver-wise. Boldin's collectible numbers will almost certainly fall--we foresee him dropping off by about a dozen catches and two hundred yards. But that doesn't mean he won't be as effective, if not more so. Supplying the Ravens with a tough inside target (particularly in the red zone) fills a vital need, and takes heat off Flacco, Rice, etc. If he stays healthy, he's a good addition.
After reading the new Ravens jerseys section, it seems the best way to beat them is to use the shotgun, throw on first down and stop with the stupid play-action pass. Do you think more teams will follow this or will the Ravens adjust to these formations as well?
Now that Ed Reed's injury is obviously going to hamper him a lot longer than projected when you went to press, are you standing by your predictions for 2010?
FO: Questions 1 and 2 are connected. Part of the reason teams were able to be successful out of the shotgun, and throwing early in the down count, against Baltimore were the injuries to the secondary. Those numbers against the Ravens D trended downward as the season progressed and the body count mounted. So knowing that Reed will be gone for at least 6 games will certainly, one would imagine, encourage opponents to attack on non-passing downs this season. Having said that, teams like to think they will dictate to other teams, despite the "take what they gave us" cliche, and thus running teams (like my Bengals jerseys) aren't likely to create a gameplan devoted directly to this weakness.
As for the injury, as noted in the chapter, the Ravens were actually rather healthy last season, except in the defensive back seven, particularly the secondary. This wasn't likely to happen again, with Reed being just the tip of the iceberg, I'm afraid. Nevertheless, that is mostly factored in to the projection, with the caveat that Reed has an effect similar to that of Troy Polamalu--sometimes, one player is so impactful that it hurts the team across the offense/defense. Fortunately for Baltimore, so long as RayRay stays healthy, that impact should be offset. We stood by our stats that said Baltimore was the best team in 2009, despite the record, so unless Flacco and Rice and Lewis all go down, we stand by the projection, too.
According to your stats, the Ravens led the league rushing to Michael Oher's side in 2009, but do you think they can continue that trend running to what is now his left side and most likely the tougher side to run at?
FO: As for Oher, note first that our stats that indicate running over right tackle or right end aren't complete indicators of a single player's effectiveness--but it is a strong guide. The Ravens football jerseys ran it OK to the other side too, and remember Oher played five games at left tackle in '09. If anything, at this point Oher is a better run blocker than pass blocker, so I wouldn't worry too much about his transition hurting the run game. Baltimore will no doubt flip its gameplan to run left more often, which should tilt the stats that way too.

Relying on a rookie cornerback is bad news
However, anecdotally, it's hard to look at Rick Smith's evaluations in the draft and not come away thinking that there is something about Kareem Jackson that can defy this. Cushing and Ryans football jerseystarted and were good from day one. Williams was decent in his first year, then hit the switch in year two. Glover Quin stepped in and was credible last year, as was Brice McCain as a nickel/dime cornerback. If you want to give partial credit, Amobi Okoye was pretty solid too in his rookie year. There is definitely a reason why the Texans ranked number one in FO's young talent list, after all. Rick Smith can pick 'em.
I don't think there will be much of, if any, drop off from Dunta Robinson leaving. The Texans probably would've been better off actually nabbing a Leigh Bodden or a good free safety and breaking in Jackson slowly, but the laws of free agency prohibited those sort of moves this year. The expiration of the collective bargaining agreement left a lot of guys that would've hit the market as restricted free agents, driving up demand and overpricing the guys that did. As mad as I was that the Texans passed on their chance to get a nose tackle with that #20 pick, I can't help but think that Jackson will do better than some are expecting. I'm certainly more worried about Eugene Wilson than I am him, at any rate. If he mimics Quin's year, he's a hit compared to Robinson.
Concern Level: 5
FO brings out it's justifications early in the chapter by pointing out some statistics about teams that won nine or more games after three years of .500 or worse. It usually isn't a sign of a breakout: the next year after that "break out", the teams combined to have a winning percentage of .511, or in laymans terms, about 8.2 wins. They compare the Texans to the Seattle Seahawks of 1999, who after winning seven, eight, and eight games prior to winning nine, went 6-10 in 2000. That team had Jon Kitna doing a surprisingly good job replacing Warren Moon, and an old but surprisingly effective Ricky Watters, but their best receiver was Derrick Mayes. While they drafted Shaun Alexander and Darrell Jackson to supplement the offensive core, Kitna missed four games, fell apart when he did play (apparently completing 55% of your passes in your rookie year is a bad sign for your future), and the offense went from scoring the 12th most points to the 19th most. Meanwhile, the defense watched Chad Brown, Michael Sinclair, Willie Williams, and Cortez Kennedy hit the age wall and start declining in effectiveness, and lost Phillip Daniels to the Redskins football jerseys in free agency. There were some good young pieces in Shawn Springs and Anthony Simmons, but they went from allowing the eighth fewest points in the NFL to the sixth most.
I don't think the Texans fit into that comparison. Schaub is better than Kitna, the age of the defense proves that they shouldn't bottom out like that, and the skill position players are much better. I'd compare them, instead, to the 2008 Cardinals. After being a bottom feeder since David Boston's youth, the Cardinals climbed from 5-11 to 8-8 to 9-7, making the Super Bowl after really picking up steam at the end of the year, but only getting to the playoffs because of a weak division.
The 2008 Cardinals had a injury prone but elite QB (Kurt Warner jersey), an ineffective run game that used a high pick on a running back (Chris Wells), an array of skilled pass-catchers (Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, Steve Breaston, Early Doucet), a mediocre offensive line that had problems in the run game, and a defense anchored by some in-prime studs (Darnell Dockett, Calais Campbell, Karlos Dansby, Adrian Wilson) that were able to drag the talent around them to "okay". Sound familiar at all? Those Cardinals, according to FO's 2009 Almanac, had the third toughest projected schedule in the NFL last year.

2010 Fantasy Football Redraft Rankings
1. Andre Johnson, HOU
His age, size, speed and overall skill set make him a nightmare to cover and the top target in an excessively pass-happy offense that will see plenty of shootouts throughout the season.
2. Randy Moss jersey, NE
Remember, this isn't a dynasty ranking. Moss always plays better when he has something to prove. When he has a chip on his shoulder. When he's playing for his next contract.
He has all three going for him in 2010, and will see ample targets as the new Patriots jerseys attempt one last hurrah before a potential changing of the guard. Moss will have an elite 2010. After that is anyone's guess.
3. Roddy White, ATL
Shocked? Don't be. Just look at Roddy's consistency the past three seasons…even last year when Matt Ryan faced some growing pains.
Ryan will rise from the ashes of his sophomore disappointment to post solid numbers, with Roddy White being benefactor 1A.
4. Reggie Wayne, IND
The only certainties in life are death, taxes and that Reggie Wayne will post elite receiver stats.
A bit of a logjam for the Colts passing game with the return of Anthony Gonzalez and a small decrease in stats across the second half of last season leave me ranking Wayne here, but he could easily finish as the top fantasy receiver this season, too.
5. Larry Fitzgerald jersey, ARI
The only uncertainty here begins and ends with the quarterback. Sure, the loss of Kurt Warner will likely affect Fitz's numbers...slightly.
I do think that Matt Leinart will need a big reliable receiver much like an infant relies on a favorite blankey or binky.
6. Calvin Johnson, DET
The Lions will be playing from behind plenty this season. Johnson and Matthew Stafford jerseystarted showing signs of developed chemistry as the season wore on last year.
The addition of Nate Burleson will help keep defenses from gang-covering Johnson. This all means a resurgence for the talented young pass catcher.
7. Miles Austin, DAL
Plenty of people are very high on Austin. I'm totally on the fence. Hard to get uber-excited just yet over a receiver who hasn't proven his worth for an extended amount of time.
Also curious to see how things are divvied out to an offense that gained an elite rookie receiver in Dez Bryant and promoted backfield receiving option Felix Jones to top dog running back.
8. Greg Jennings, GB
Coming off a down season by most people's standards, Jennings was affected more by a slipshod O-line and Aaron Rodgers' scramble for his life.
Look at his stats later in the season when the O-line solidified a little. This season, Green Bay's line is much improved, and Jennings numbers will follow suit.
9. DeSean Jackson, PHI
If you haven't read Larry Fitzgerald's capsule above, do so now. Then insert Donovan McNabb into Kurt Warner's slot and Kevin Kolb's name in for Matt Leinart. Except Jackson isn't as talented as Larry Fitz, hence the lower ranking here.
10. Brandon Marshall, MIA
If Marshall can make Kyle Orton look semi-legitimate, imagine what he can do with a young, talented Chad Henne?
Offseason hip surgery may hamper him somewhat this summer and may affect his early season a tad, but Marshall is talented enough to net you plenty a fantasy point. If only he was more stable off the field.

will he seize his chance ?
In a league desperate for quality quarterbacks, Leinart is a rarity -- a pedigreed passer who couldn't get the necessary snaps. Although he is often regarded as a first-round bust, the statistics tell a different story. As a rookie, he threw for more than 210 yards per game. He has completed more than 57 percent of his career passes. In his only start last season, he was 21 of 31 for 220 yards and no interceptions at Tennessee. He has not been new Warner jersey, by any means, but he has not been Ryan Leaf, either. This season will do much to reveal who Leinart ultimately becomes.
"This is the most excited I've ever been for a season by far," Leinart said. "It's the opportunity I've waited a long time for. I know this is my chance. I don't have any doubt in my mind about what I can do."
Leinart won the Cardinals' loyalty by waiting for it. He sat patiently on the sideline as Warner took hold of the team. Leinart clearly wished that he could be the one to guide the Cardinals to the Super Bowl, but he never said as much. He has served his penance -- and then some -- for that overblown photo of him with the girls in a Jacuzzi.
"Matt is our guy," Campbell said. "We will live and die on his shoulders."
Four years after he was drafted, Leinart remains a celebrity in Los Angeles, as evidenced by the red carpet he had to cross to enter his charity bowling event on Thursday night. In Arizona, though, he is no more than the wild card on which the upcoming season rides. If Leinart performs well, the Cardinals will probably win the NFC West for the third year in a row, which constitutes a dynasty in the desert. If he does not, he could be supplanted by Derek Anderson, just as he was supplanted by Kurt Warner football jersey.
Word has apparently leaked back to Phoenix of Leinart's daily workouts with fellow USC quarterback alums Carson Palmer and Matt Cassel at top secret locations around Orange County. Leinart and friends have to vary their choice of local middle school and high school fields to keep USC-partisan crowds from forming in the stands.
LOS ANGELES -- Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell walked into the VIP Room of Lucky Strike Lanes in Hollywood on Thursday night, wrapped quarterback Matt Leinart in a massive bear hug, and whispered in his ear: "I'm hearing a lot of good things."

Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp Preview
By the team's final game, a 44-24 blowout of the division rival Broncos jerseys in Denver, Haley's team was clicking on almost all cylinders. For the Chiefs in 2010, Pioli and Haley hope to have found a few players to have this team hitting on all cylinders for their season opener on Monday Night Football against the San Diego Chargers.
While the team did improve and doubled its win total to four games in 2009, most of the season was spent finding the right combination of players that could help this team be successful.
General manager Scott Pioli and head coach Todd Haley both came in with resumes that included Super Bowls and family ties to some of the best minds in the history of the NFL. And so the quest began in 2009, to turn the Chiefs into a dominant contender in the AFC.
A year ago, new Chiefs jerseys owner Clark Hunt gutted the front office after the team's worst season in franchise history. And while many pundits questioned the youth of his new general manager and head coach, no one could question their pedigrees.
The 2010 NFL season is fast approaching, and perhaps no group of fans in the NFL jerseys have as much cautious optimism about what it will bring as the fans in Kansas City.

Have they ready for the super bowl?
With their already strong running game, and their monstrous defence, the Ravens now have a team that is destined to dominate the AFC North. Their only competitors will be the Cincinnati Bengals jerseys, but the Bengals have yet to make serious moves and no longer seem to match up with the Ravens. The Pittsburgh Steelers, the most recent Super Bowl winners from the division, are without their quarterback for four games and just traded a star receiver, and thus look to be no contest for the Ravens.
Some worry that Boldin's ego won't allow him to deal with other receivers being thrown to more often, but his priorities seem straight. "As long as we are winning, there are enough footballs," Boldin said. "Ray Rice is going to get his carries - and his catches. Todd Heap will control the middle of the field from the tight end position. And Donte and Mason, they are going to stretch the field and I am just going to do what I do -- catch the ball and break tackles."
With their newly strengthened receiving core, expect the Ravens to utilize a four wide-receiver formation much more frequently than they have in the past. Last season the Ravens jerseys lined up with four-wide just 16 times, by far the lowest amount of times in the League. To compare, Boldin's Cardinals went into that formation over 300 times.
Although the Ravens offense is going to be vastly different from the kind Boldin is used to at Arizona, several other off-season acquisitions should help transition the Ravens to a strong passing franchise. The Ravens have also signed Donte Stallworth, another talented receiver who also had troubles with his former team.
Last season the Ravens ranked 18th in the NFL in passing, with the majority of their passes going to running back Ray Rice.
A prime example of why the Ravens need Anquan Boldin is their defeat in last year's play-offs. The Ravens reached the second round, but their horrible passing led to a smothering defeat by the Indianapolis Colts.
The Ravens have signed to a four-year, $28 million contract, and now without the aid of Larry Fitzgerald the pressure will be on for Boldin to showcase himself as an elite receiver. If he lives up to expectations, Boldin will become the only elite receiver the Ravens have had, and the first elite receiver in Baltimore since the days of Johnny Unitas and the original Colts. In fact, Elias Sports Bureau research shows that receiver is the only offensive or defensive positional grouping that Baltimore has not sent a player to the Pro Bowl for.
Boldin himself has said, ""Everything about this move feels right." Additionally, Boldin showed his maturity by reiterating that he wasn't misunderstood or unhappy with the actual situation he had in Arizona, but was bothered by the fact that Cardinals management misled him about the role they wanted him to play.
Boldin's struggles with the Cardinals management were well publicized, but given the Ravens' arrangements for him and the mutual benefits of the relationship things should be much more tranquil at Baltimore.
Boldin and the Ravens are a relationship that is destined for some sort of success. Boldin, only 29, is a great receiver who wants to be a team's first priority passing wise. The Ravens, a defensive powerhouse, have appeared to be one big-name receiver away from another NFL championship for years.
Apparently some of the other Ravens players anticipate the same. Boldin recalls that upon being traded to the Ravens, team leader Ray Lewis phoned him to discuss the Super Bowl already. "Ray said to me, 'You know, it's in Dallas this year,'" said Boldin. Boldin responded in stride and said, "I'm ahead of you. I'm already there."
Anquan Boldin jerseyspent much of his National Football League career for the Arizona Cardinals in the shadow of star receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Now as the Baltimore Ravens' No. 1, Boldin is ready for and anticipates a future of success.

How Much Does He Mean to the Chicago Bears?
His inspiration on and off the field will be a big difference this year.
Despite his age, Urlacher football jersey is still one of the best middle linebackers playing in NFL right now, and with his return, the Bear's defense will be that much better in 2010.
Chicago didn't do so well with Urlacher out of the lineup last year even though they did win more games than they did when he was out of the lineup before.
Some people feel that anyone can call a defense but Urlacher does it best.
On the field, Urlacher is the player most responsible for getting the defense to line up right, make changes when he sees the offense do something prior to the snap, as well as make the calls.
In the absence of anyone else to step up and provide the same kind of leadership that he provides, Urlacher is vital. He inspires his teammates, helps keep them in line and provides a voice in a room without voices.
So just how important is Urlacher to the Bears?
When the Bears went to the Super Bowl jerseysin 2006, Urlacher was there cheering them on (on both sides of the ball) and showing all of Bearsland just what kind of player he is.
Inspiration and leadership both on and off the field are hallmarks of Urlacher's career with the Bears.
While this may be a minor blip on a big radar, it proved that Urlacher still possesses the leadership qualities that he has exhibited over the course of his career with the Bears.
Fans sided with Urlacher for the most part, feeling that Sayers was out of touch with what was going on with the Bears at that time (and some felt that Sayers had no room to talk because he had never been part of a championship team and therefore didn't know what it took to win the big game).
Then came the war of words between Urlacher and Gayle Sayers (with a little help from Dick Butkus).
Was it just Urlacher taking shots at the team in an attempt to stir up trouble? Either way, that incident dropped him down a few notches with fans and perhaps with some of his own teammates.
Was it the truth?
Many Bears jerseysfans remember some of the remarks that Urlacher made to a reporter who was following him around last season about the team and the coaching staff. Some of what was said was not well received by the Bears front office.
The middle linebacker is one part of a 4-3 defense and Urlacher is no exception. He helps call the defensive plays when he is out there. He is the leader on and off the field. He is the face of the defense to fans and media alike.
Recently Urlacher has shown signs of age, but he is still a big part of the Bear's defense.
They didn't win a single game while he was gone.
His size and speed was a deadly combination. When he went out for seven games with a hamstring injury the Bears found out firsthand how much they missed him.
Urlacher has been a fixture of the team for several years. Early in his career, he was one of the best middle linebackers in the NFL.
Ever since middle linebacker new Brian Urlacher jersey went out in the first game of the 2009 season, people have been wondering just how much he means to the Bear's defense and the team as a whole.

what is the result of Kurt Warner ?
Either way, the decision not to move Warner off the active roster was hardly an accident or an oversight. Teams may carry only 80 players under contract during the offseason, and not having Warner on the reserve/retired list means that they went through minicamps and OTAs with only 79 players, in addition to any unsigned draft picks.
At a deeper level, it's possible that the Cardinals jerseys were holding out hope that Warner would take a page from the Favre playbook. Rumors had circulated a couple of months ago that Warner's inability to land a broadcasting job could lead him back to the field for another season. (Warner thereafter reiterated that he's still retired, but he made clear that he hopes to find a way to stay "involved" with football.)
So why the delay? For starters, the lack of a salary cap gave the team no urgency to put Warner on the shelf.
But the Cardinals refrained from putting him on the reserve/retired list for months. Adam Caplan of FOXSports.com reports that the team finally made the move earlier this week.
More than a week before the Super Bowl, Cardinals quarterback new Kurt Warner jerseyannounced that his football career has ended.

Who Are Wide Receivers?
Seattle Seahawks: T.J. Houshmandzadeh
When you look at Houshmandzadeh's numbers last season they are notable. However when you compare his numbers to his previous three seasons with the Bengals and the big contract he signed with the Seahawks in 2009 is when his numbers look like he regressed. Housh is still a great wide receiver and his lack of production last season had to do with injuries to quarterback Matt Hasselbeck and the lack of other weapons on offense like he had in Cincinnati. But this is when great players step up and show they can lead a team regardless of who is around them.
Seattle Seahawks: Deion Branch
Branch can be relied on as a second receiver but with his recent knee injuries and declining production he is best suited as a third string receiver. He can still catch the football as he has averaged around 44 receptions since he joined the Seahawks in 2006 but he is not a target in the end-zone.
St. Louis Rams football jerseys: Donnie Avery
With Avery's speed he is always a threat to score. He had a breakout rookie season in 2008 with 53 receptions for 674 yards and three touchdowns. Other than the touchdown category he did not eclipse those numbers last season. The Rams have struggled at quarterback in the last two seasons especially last year so his production in on par with the talent he had around him. It will be interesting to see if Sam Bradford and Avery develop the QB/WR combination ala Kurt Warner/Torry Holt.
Arizona Cardinals: new Larry Fitzgerald jersey
You can look at the loss of Kurt Warner (retirement) and Anquan Boldin (traded to the Ravens) one of two ways: 1. Fitzgerald will get more targets with the loss of Boldin and with the emerging running dual of Beanie Wells/Tim Hightower will open up the secondary. or 2. Fitzgerald's production will drop because the secondary will only need to focus on him and with Matt Leinart's suspect accuracy it will be hard to get Fitz the football. While success this season will be harder for Fitzgerald there is no denying the phenomenal player he has become. Fitzgerald will still get at least ten touchdowns and hit the mark of 90 receptions and over 1,000 receiving yards but it will harder than previous seasons with Warner and Boldin gone.
Arizona Cardinals jerseys: Steve Breaston
Breaston had a breakout year in 2008 with 77 receptions, 1,006 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Most of his stats came as he filled in for injured starter Anquan Boldin. Although still impressive Breaston last season regressed in his numbers (55 receptions, 712 receiving yards and three touchdowns) but progressed as a wide receiver all while being number three on the depth chart. If anything Cardinal fans can look to 2008 to get a glimpse of how he will play starting at wide receiver. However like Fitzgerald his success all comes down to how effective the running game will be and how Matt Leinart develops into his role as a full time starter.
San Francisco 49ers: Michael Crabtree
The focal point of training camp for Michael Crabtree last season was pay me. With Crabtree under contract the focal point of this seasons training camp will be his development in reading defenses and developing a relationship with quarterback Alex Smith in which both know what each other are thinking on any given play. In the 11 games he did play in last season he put up some good numbers: 48 receptions, 625 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Crabtree should have good numbers this season but in order for him to become an All-Pro a lot rests in the hands of Alex Smith, Vernon Davis, Josh Morgan, Frank Gore and the offensive line.

How Do You Draft Dallas Clark
Agree? Disagree? I'd love to hear your thoughts on how you value new Dallas Clark jerseys.
2010 Prediction : 90 catches, 1000 yards, 10 TDs
With his ability and the system he operates in, I can easily see him going somewhere around the 35-40 spot making him a late third or early fourth round pick.
He has a rare combination of speed and size that makes him a difficult match-up for linebackers and safeties alike. He runs crisp routes and has the full confidence of one of the best QBs in the game. With Reggie Wayne tormenting defenses on the outside, Clark has a field day.
There were only about 25-30 non-quarterbacks that scored more fantasy points than Clark last year in non-PPR leagues, depending on your format of course. In PPR leagues, that number was even lower. There are probably about seven QBs that I would prefer over Clark (Rodgers, Brees, Manning, Rivers, Brady, Romo, Schaub).
Only seven players had 1000+ receiving yards and 10+ TDs. Those players were Randy Moss, Larry Fitzgerald football jerseys Roddy White, Miles Austin, Marshall, Wayne, and Clark.
Clark was tied with teammate new Reggie Wayne jerseys for fifth in the league in receptions, trailing only the injured Wes Welker, the Giants' Steve Smith, Andre Johnson, and Brandon Marshall. In PPR leagues, that number has to be considered. Even in non-PPR leagues he was amazingly productive ranking 16th in receiving yardage and tied for 7th in receiving TDs.
I'm wondering if he should go a couple of rounds earlier.
Mock Draft Central has his ADP at 50, meaning he'd go with the second pick in the fifth round. ESPN has him at 54. As rankings roll out, I'm sure that 50 mark will be pretty standard.
Last year he had 100 catches for 1106 yards and 10 TDs. Those are not just incredible numbers for a tight end, but incredible numbers for any position. I have him as my top rated fantasy TE , but where should he go in fantasy drafts?
Dallas Clark football jerseys is an absolute terror to opposing defenses.

the capacity of Joe Montana
In 1994 Montana became just the fifth quarterback to pass for more than 40,000 yards in a career.
